Celebrating the LGBTQ+ community’s impact on the field of personal finance.
Happy Pride Month! This month, we’re celebrating our LGBTQ+ AFC Professionals, Members, and Candidates!
Want to get involved? AFCPE’s DEI Task Force has identified 3 ways you can learn more about LGBTQ+ finance during Pride.
1. Learn more about financial concerns for the LGBTQ+ community.
The LGBTQ+ community navigates a variety of financial considerations such as the generational wealth gap and financial concerns like financial discrimination, housing, medical costs, and family planning.
2. Get to know leading LGBTQ+ voices in personal finance.
From financial innovation to financial education, LGBTQ+ people are making a significant mark on the field. Whether you add some new faces to your TikTok feed, check out these podcasts and resources, or learn how these leaders are dedicated to making banking a more inclusive experience for members of the LGBTQ+ community, these financial experts and content creators are definitely worth a follow.
3. Read Paying an Unfair Price: The Financial Penalty for LGBT People of Color in America
A recommendation from AFCPE’s DEI Task Force, Paying an Unfair Price focuses on how racism and homophobia leaves LGBT People of Color at additional financial disadvantages compared to White members of the LGBTQ community.

AFCPE knows that personal finance and our relationship with money is not one size fits all. We celebrate national heritage months with two goals in mind: (1) As a way to educate financial professionals on how different identities, cultures, and customs may affect finances or our relationship to finances. (2) To celebrate the various backgrounds of our diverse and inclusive community.
