AFC® Scholarships | Strategic Impact Fund

About the AFC® Scholarship

This award provides individuals with the opportunity to earn the highest standard of excellence for financial counseling professionals.

Scholarships are valued at $1,400 and include:

  • Registration fee
  • AFC® online course
  • AFC® course books/materials
  • AFC® exam (one attempt)

 Eligibility

  • Individuals who have previously enrolled, or held the designation and lapsed, are not eligible to apply.

* Current AFCPE Membership encouraged, but not required.

Expectations

  • Plan to sit for AFC® exam within 12 months after the scholarship notification date
  • Agreement to share the #ValueofanAFC once certified. We want to know how the AFC® is positively affecting the work that you do – for your clients and your communities. This can be done through your organization’s newsletter, an AFCPE blog post, or through a social media picture and testimonial.

Selection Criteria

A review committee will select 7 individuals whom they believe are most likely to leverage the opportunity. The committee seeks individuals who are passionate about helping people improve financial security and who believe in setting the highest standards of professionalism for the field.

About the Coaching Essentials Scholarship

This scholarship enables individuals to build coaching skills through a nationally recognized program. Coaching Essentials (Module 1 of the FFC® certification) is focused on mastery of coaching skills that allows each individual to bring their own unique personality and expertise to the coaching relationship.

Coaching is not a replacement for financial counseling or planning but a way of working with clients to support them in taking charge of their financial choices and implementing action plans.

Scholarships are valued at $1,525 and include:

  • $50 registration fee
  • Coaching Essentials Training
  • Money Management Essentials pre-requisite course (if applicant does not have an  AFC®, CFP®, CFA, CPA, or ChFC)

Eligibility

  • Individuals who previously enrolled are not eligible to apply.

  • Commitment to complete the course in the required time period

Together, AFCPE’s Accredited Financial Counselor® (AFC®) certification, and the Financial Fitness Coach (FFC®) certification in partnership with Sage Financial Solutions, have met all requirements and competencies outlined in the Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) Counselor Training Standards.
