Headshot of Michele Godfrey

Greetings, AFCPE Members and Friends,

In less than one month, we will host our 2022 AFCPE Symposium.  I am excited to travel to Orlando, Florida – Florida, my home state, and Orlando, home of my Alma Mater, the University of Central Florida.  I am most grateful for the opportunity to reconnect in person and virtually with colleagues, partners, and friends.  The symposium is one of the highlights of my year, and I hope you are preparing to Experience the 2022 AFCPE Symposium with me.

Although our 2022 theme has focused on the AFCPE Experience and centered around celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the AFC credential, I am reminded that AFCs are Needed Now More Than Ever!  As I write this article, our country is faced with high levels of inflation impacting the cost of gas, food, shelter, and other necessities.  Inflation is not solely impacting those of lower income levels; everyone makes multiple financial decisions daily to stretch each dollar they have.  Fortunately, professionals like you can provide sound financial advice, tools, and resources to help individuals and families make the best decision for their financial future.  AFCs, you are needed now more than ever, and I thank you for committing yourself to this profession.

Our organization continues to be successful because of the commitment of the AFCPE staff.  This year the board conducted a national search for a new Executive Director, and I am pleased that we were able to select and hire Rachael DeLeon.  Rachael is a visionary leader who believes in the organization’s mission and in growing and developing team members who are committed to the task and have the talents and expertise to help our organization succeed.  I want to express my sincere appreciation to each staff member for your continued commitment to the organization.  Your work does not go unnoticed.

Serving as the 2022 President of the AFCPE Board of Directors has been rewarding.  I am thankful for the opportunity to help shape and guide our organization as we work to advance the mission of the organization.  I have had the privilege of working with a diverse group of professionals who, at their core, are passionate about helping others secure and sustain financial stability to realize their financial goals.  Special thanks to each of you for contributing your time and talents.

Finally, it has been an honor to serve you as President of the board of Directors, and as my term ends, I have the distinct privilege to pass the torch to Andi Wrenn.  Andi is committed to advancing the mission of our organization and is a well-respected colleague, friend, and mentor to many.   When developing your goals and activities for 2023, I’d like to encourage you to consider lending a few hours to AFCPE, volunteer for a task force, lead a discussion group, or even write an article for our newsletter.  Raise Your AFCPE voice.

Peace & Blessings to you all.
