Money Management Essentials Scholarship

The Money Management Essentials scholarship is a capacity building scholarship opportunity for 501(c)(3) community-based nonprofits committed to serving underserved communities and 501(c)(3) public and private colleges and universities seeking to grow their financial education and counseling programs.

This capacity building scholarship is an 8-week staff professional development opportunity beginning August 1, 2024 and commencing October 31, 2024. It includes enrollment in AFCPE’s Money Management Essentials; an approximately 10-hour self-paced, online learning experience.

All scholarship recipients who successfully complete AFCPE’s Money Management Essentials are eligible to apply for an AFC® Certification Scholarship.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Money Management Essentials scholarship, applicants must be ONE of the following:

  • 501(c)(3) community-based nonprofit committed to serving underserved communities with 10 or more employees seeking to grow their financial education and financial counseling programs.
  • 501(c)(3) public or private college or university with 10 or more employees seeking to grow their financial education and financial counseling programs.

and must NOT:

  • Have received, accepted, or utilized a Money Management Essentials scholarship award in the past three years.

  • EIN
  • 3 essay questions
  • IRS 501(c)(3) Determination Letter dated within the last 2 years

Please print your application for your records before you submit. Once you submit your application, AFCPE will not be able to return it to you, in whole or in part, for any reason.

Selection Criteria

Applications are evaluated and scored by AFCPE volunteers and are reviewed by staff. All decisions are final. All applications are reviewed and scored based on community impact, impact the scholarship will have on current and future programing, diversity of clients, communities served and how an organization plans to support staff through the training process.

Scholarship Award

Scholarships will be awarded July 30, 2024. All applicants will be notified of their application status via email. Enrollment codes and instructions for completing AFCPE’s Money Management Essentials will be provided to each receiving organization at that time. Organizations awarded a Money Management Essentials scholarship will be required to participate in bi-weekly check–in meetings with AFCPE beginning August 1, 2024.

Acceptance of a Money Management Essentials Scholarship requires completion of a post-scholarship award survey. Survey responses are confidential and will be used to improve future scholarship opportunities.

AFCPE does not reimburse for any fees or expenses incurred prior to award. AFCPE employees, board members, and their immediate family are not eligible to apply for AFCPE scholarships.
