Did you get to attend a graduation ceremony recently?  I did! It was wonderful to see all the students dressed in their caps and gowns surrounded by proud parents, friends, and teachers.  So much excitement and promise in the air! Graduation often means at least 2 things… 1) hitting the job market and 2) an increase in income and possibly expenses. Hopefully we will all get the opportunity to share some advice with these new graduates about how to handle the increase income and expenses and with any luck they will really hear what we have to say! For those graduating in the field of personal finance, have you recommended the AFCPE Virtual Career Center?  There are hundreds of positions listed in a variety of areas both geographically and organizationally. Maybe one will be right for a graduate you know!

The symposium will be here before we know it!  It will be held November 19 – 21 (Tuesday through Thursday)  this year. Yes, you read correctly, we will begin the symposium on Tuesday in Portland, Oregon. What a great city with a lot to offer! The Symposium Task Force has been hard at work finalizing the general session speakers and we are going to be in for a treat!  Many outstanding proposals for the breakout and poster sessions have been submitted, and the Symposium Task Force will be completing their reviews of those proposals soon. Thank you to each member who submitted a proposal and to those who are reviewing them!

It’s going to be time to hit the virtual polls soon… The Nominations Task Force is vetting applications for the board of directors and will be putting together the final ballot for vote in the coming weeks. When the ballot hits your inbox we hope you will take the time to carefully review the candidates and vote for who you think will best represent your needs on the board. It’s time to Raise Your Voice!
