Position Description

Are you passionate about helping early-career individuals build strong financial foundations? Join RedSky Money (RSM) as a Volunteer Financial Coach and make a meaningful impact on the financial well-being of individuals in their 20s and 30s.

This role is more than just volunteer work—it’s a valuable professional development opportunity for those looking to hone their financial coaching skills, gain hands-on experience, and explore whether a career in financial coaching is right for them. Whether you’re looking to launch your own financial coaching practice or refine your expertise, this opportunity provides real-world experience with structured support.

As a coach, you will:

  • Conduct one-on-one virtual coaching sessions using RedSky Money’s Google Meet platform.
  • Receive a dedicated RSM email and Workspace account to manage communication and scheduling (no need to use your personal contact info).
  • Help clients navigate their financial journeys using RedSky Money’s Money Order of Operations (MOO) framework.
  • Document session insights in a post-meeting survey to track client progress.
  • Participate in peer learning and mentorship through periodic meetings with an AFC supervising coach.
  • Access a comprehensive suite of coaching tools and materials, including budget templates, debt reduction calculators, and a Coaches Handbook.

This is a rewarding, flexible, and fully remote opportunity to develop your skills, build confidence as a financial coach, and make a tangible impact in the lives of young professionals.

Roles/Responsibilities

As a RedSky Money Volunteer Financial Coach, you will:

  • Provide personalized financial coaching tailored to each client’s needs.
  • Conduct virtual meetings via Google Meet (RSM provides access).
  • Complete brief post-session documentation to support tracking and accountability.
  • Collaborate with an AFC supervising coach for guidance, feedback, and professional development.

Beyond giving back, this role allows you to develop your coaching style, gain hands-on experience, and learn best practices in financial coaching—an invaluable stepping stone for those considering a career in financial counseling or launching their own practice.

Time Commitment/Availability

We understand that flexibility is key! Coaches can:

  • Set their own schedules, including evenings and weekends.
  • Determine meeting cadence based on client availability and needs.
  • Expect each session to last approximately 50 minutes, with additional time for preparation and follow-up.
  • Work with clients across various U.S. time zones, adapting to their work schedules (e.g., lunch breaks or after-hours sessions).

This role is perfect for those who want to build their coaching experience at their own pace while making a meaningful difference.

Required Qualifications

To apply, you must have successfully passed the AFCPE (Accredited Financial Counselor®) or CFP (Certified Financial Planner®) certification exam.

Preferred Qualifications

We’re looking for coaches who are:

  • Comfortable providing virtual coaching through Google Meet.
  • Passionate about working with young professionals (20s–30s) who are early in their financial journeys.
  • Adaptable to clients in different time zones across the U.S.
  • Skilled in guiding clients on a range of financial topics, including:
    • Budgeting and savings strategies
    • Managing student loans and consumer debt
    • Understanding employer health and retirement benefits
    • Improving credit and financial literacy

This opportunity is perfect for newly accredited financial coaches looking to gain hands-on experience, refine their skills, and determine whether financial coaching is the right career path for them. You’ll gain exposure to real-world client scenarios, coaching methodologies, and professional networking opportunities—all while making a difference.
