Position Description
Invest for Better is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping women become confident investors, who want to grow their wealth and use their investments to create a better world. We help women identify values-aligned investments across their entire portfolios – from cash to public equities to alternatives. We do not provide recommendations, but rather offer information, education, and peer support. This is done through something we call the Circle Experience.
Invest for Better Circles are facilitated by either a single leader or a pair of co-leaders. Our Circles are offered twice a year as cohorts, in which 10 or more Circles are running concurrently.
Circles are groups of 8-20 women who come together for 90 minute facilitated meetings every 2 weeks over a 3.5-month period. Together they learn, talk about money, and explore investing topics.
Women are inspired to lead Circles for many reasons. They want to begin or deepen their own investing knowledge and put their money to work for a better world. They want to build a community of supportive peers or even a network to source and share investment ideas. They want to strengthen their leadership skills. And they share a passion for advancing women’s financial literacy and growing the values-aligned investing ecosystem in their community!
If any or all of these reasons resonate, becoming an IFB Circle leader might be right for you.
Roles/Responsibilities
As an Invest for Better Leader, you have a set of responsibilities to ensure that you and the members have an outstanding Circle Experience. Those responsibilities include:
• Participate in two 60-minute live trainings that teach you about the curriculum and prepare you to effectively facilitate your Circle meetings. These trainings will take place 4-6 weeks before the start of your Circle.
• Schedule and facilitate seven 90-minute Circle meetings over a 3.5-month period, using comprehensive Leader materials provided by IFB.
• Prepare in advance for each of the facilitated meetings. This includes conducting the pre-work assigned to your members, previewing Leader materials, and other set-up. You should expect to spend 2-4 hours preparing for each meeting.
• Communicate with your members prior to launch and between meetings.
• Join an (optional) 60-minute call twice a month to share your experience with other Circle Leaders.
• Participate in a feedback session at the conclusion of the Circle experience.
Some Circles are launched by a single leader while many have co-leaders to share networks and logistics and make the experience more fun.
Time Commitment/Availability
Time commitment is expected to be 10-12 hours per month for about 5 months.
Circles will meet biweekly. The day of week and time of the meetings can be chosen by you.
