Position Description

Invest for Better is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping women become confident investors, who want to grow their wealth and use their investments to create a better world. We help women identify values-aligned investments across their entire portfolios – from cash to public equities to alternatives. We do not provide recommendations, but rather offer information, education, and peer support. This is done through something we call the Circle Experience.

Circles are groups of 8-20 women who come together for 90 minute facilitated meetings every 2 weeks over a 3-month period. Together they learn, talk about money, and explore investing topics. At the end of their time together, each participate will have a completed Investment Policy Statement and a clear idea about her next steps.

Invest for Better Circles are facilitated by either a single leader or a pair of co-leaders. Our Circles are offered twice a year as cohorts, in which 10 or more Circles are running concurrently.

The next cohort will be kicking off in April. Prior to that time, our leaders will go through two trainings to prepare them to facilitate a Circle. Our first training will take place February 27th, 12-1:30pm ET/9-10:30am PT.

Women are inspired to lead for many reasons. They want to begin or deepen their own investing knowledge and put their money to work for a better world. They want to build a community of supportive peers or even a network to source and share investment ideas. They want to strengthen their leadership skills. And they share a passion for advancing women’s financial literacy and growing the values-aligned investing ecosystem in their community!

If any or all of these reasons resonate, becoming an IFB Circle leader might be right for you.

Roles/Responsibilities

As an Invest for Better Leader, you have a set of responsibilities to ensure that you and the members have an outstanding Circle Experience. Those responsibilities include:

• Participate in two 90-minute live trainings that teach you about the curriculum and prepare you to effectively facilitate your Circle meetings. These trainings will take place 4-6 weeks before the start of your Circle.
• Schedule and facilitate six 90-minute Circle meetings over a 3-month period, using comprehensive Leader materials provided by IFB.
• Prepare in advance for each of the facilitated meetings. This includes conducting the pre-work assigned to your members, previewing Leader materials, and other set-up. You should expect to spend 2-4 hours preparing for each meeting.
• Communicate with your members prior to launch and between meetings.
• Join an (optional) 60-minute call once a month to share your experience with other Circle Leaders.
• Participate in a 60-minute feedback session at the conclusion of the Circle experience.

Some Circles are launched by a single leader while many have co-leaders to share networks and logistics and make the experience more fun.

Time Commitment/Availability

Time commitment is expected to be 10-12 hours per month from February – June.

Leaders need to be available to either participate in two live virtual trainings – one in February and one in March – or make the time to watch the resultant video and talk to Invest for Better staff to catch up.

Circles will meet once every 2 weeks, starting in early-to-mid April and concluding after 6 meetings. Thus depending on the start date, the end date will be sometime in June. Specific dates and times of the Circle meetings are determined by each leader. Consistently set meetings, like the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 12 pm PT are easiest to set up and manage.

Required Qualifications
