Position Description

Our growing platform connects users with expert financial coaches who provide personalized guidance and support on their journey toward financial wellness.

BrightUp is seeking Financial Wellness Coaches for remote, part-time positions (10–20 hours per month). This role involves providing empathetic, non-judgmental financial guidance to users, utilizing our tech-enabled, trauma-informed approach to financial wellness. Roles/Responsibilities

User Engagement and Outreach

  • Encourage and motivate users to participate in the coaching program.
  • Address barriers to participation by offering reassurance and practical solutions.

Coaching Sessions and Support

  • Conduct one-on-one virtual coaching sessions covering topics such as budgeting, debt management, credit improvement, and savings strategies.
  • Create a supportive, engaging environment tailored to each user’s unique needs.

Tracking and Reporting

  • Accurately record user information, progress, and outcomes in the designated tracking system.

Professional Development

  • Stay informed about new tools, resources, and content that may benefit coaching users.

Time Commitment/Availability

  • 10–20 hours per month.
  • Occasional availability during evenings and weekends may be required.

Required Qualifications

  •  Successfully completed the AFC Exam.
  •  Strong empathy and social awareness.
  •  Exceptional organizational and process management skills.
  •  Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  •  Strong problem-solving and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor degree.
  • 1+ years of experience as a financial counselor or coach.

How to Submit Experience Hours

Eligible experience may be submitted in the “Counseling & Coaching” category with the Experience Verification Form as supporting documentation. Experience completed under the supervision of an AFC can be reported as 1.5 hours for every 1 hour of experience for certain categories. Please see “AFC Supervised Experience” in the Experience Guide for more details.
