Headshot of Michele GodfreyGreetings, members, and friends of AFCPE®; Happy New Year! 2022 presents us with yet another opportunity to “Raise Our AFCPE Voice” in local communities and our country. I hope you enjoyed the holiday season and have recovered from our 2021 AFCPE Symposium. As always, it was great to connect with so many of you as we spent time renewing our commitment to setting the standard for financial literacy and education.

Celebrating 30 Years of the AFC®

As we move forward in 2022, I encourage you to reflect on what the AFC® credential means to you. This year officially marks the 30th anniversary of the AFC! Over the past 30 years, our AFC credential has become recognized worldwide as the standard for professionals seeking to provide a complete continuum of care for individuals who desire to change or improve their financial outlook, ultimately leading to their picture of financial freedom. As you all know, Accredited Financial Counselors® are needed now more than ever, and I encourage you to continue to share our AFCPE story to expand our impact and create awareness of the difference an AFC can make in the lives of others.

Changes for 2022

As the incoming president of the Board of Directors, I want you to know that I am truly thankful and humbled to serve our organization in this capacity. I am excited to see what we can accomplish together. Our Board of Directors consists of a diverse group of professionals representing the various areas that our AFC professionals work. Together with the AFCPE staff, we endeavor to continue to train and develop professionals in the field, share the story of our organization and the impact it has on the world, and develop strategic partnerships to advance financial literacy and education.

Our AFCPE staff continues to perform at the highest level and remains excited to advance our mission. We have welcomed five new professionals to the team to support our ever-growing capabilities and focus on the various areas of our Strategic Plan. We are bidding farewell to our Executive Director, Rebecca Wiggins, who has been with the organization for numerous years. Her leadership was integral in moving the organization forward to where we are today. We are genuinely thankful that Rachael Deleon has accepted the role of Interim Executive Director during this time.
