This session explores Spent, a virtual poverty simulation as a viable training tool for current and rising financial counselors. First, the presenter will discuss the state of poverty in the United States including nationwide statistics and then discuss why poverty simulations are effective training tools.

The presenter will share how Spent has been used in higher education to train rising professionals to better serve low-income clientele. Participants will engage with the virtual poverty simulation themselves, then reflect on their experience. The session will conclude with strategies for how Spent can be integrated as a training tool for rising and current financial counselors and educators.

Time:  12:00 PM – 1:00 PM ET
