Fraud is at a crisis level in the United States, resulting in the theft of billions of dollars from victims each year with little chance of restitution or justice. While fraud affects all demographics, the impact on older adults is especially profound both financially and emotionally. In this webinar, AARP’s Director of Fraud Prevention Programs, Kathy Stokes, will dive into the top scam types targeting Americans, why fraud criminals succeed, and the need to change both our narrative and approach to fraud in America. By the end of this webinar, participants will have knowledge and resources to help their clients prevent and recover from the devastating impact of fraud.

Participants in the webinar will:

  1. Explore the multi-billion-dollar fraud industry and its impact on older Americans
  2. Learn the psychological tactics being used to influence older Americans into life-altering financial decisions
  3. Discover ways we can reframe the shame that often accompanies becoming a victim of fraud
  4. Discuss how acts of empathy and advocacy can help combat predatory schemes and safeguard the wellbeing of Americans
  5. Explore the resources financial planners and their clients can use to prevent, fight, and recover from fraud.

This webinar is free and offers one CE Credit for AFCPE and CFP® professionals (pending approval).
