FPA Connect: Best Practices: Real Life

Accredited Financial Counselors and Certified Financial Planners are, before anything else, human. Recognizing that humanness can sometimes cause strife internally. We are trained in giving informed advice, often “best practices”, and helping clients move forward in steps and leaps, based on the research-grounded training that defines our profession. What happens, though, when lived experiences cause friction with best practices (or what we know we *should* do) within our own lives? What about taking “best practices” and reconciling them with systemic barriers, addressing our own personal biases, and matching them up against real life?
