Position Description:

Work directly with clients, providing assistance for unexpected and emergency financial needs. Meet with Sailors, Marines and their families to prepare a budget, make suggestions, and provide guidance to help them towards financial stability. Caseworkers may be reimbursed for mileage and childcare while volunteering. Individuals working towards their AFC may be supervised by an existing AFC for hours at a 1.5:1 ratio.

Location:

Mayport Naval Station, Jacksonville FL

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Serve as client’s ambassador
  • Analyze client assistance requests, complete required verifications, assess budget, and review previous
    casework history
  • Evaluate whether needs presented can be met within NMCRS relief policies
  • Consult with a mentor to determine whether to assist or recommend other services/referrals
  • Present requests for exceptions to Headquarters Caseworkers, with concurrence of the Director or
    designee
  • Complete required documentation using NMCRS software programs

Time Commitment:

We are open M-F, 8-4pm. Casework Volunteers may set their own schedule within those times.

Required Qualifications:

Military Base Access is needed to volunteer at the Mayport Naval Station location.
