Axton Betz-Hamilton, PhD, AFC®️ is an Associate Professor of Consumer Affairs in the Ness School of Management and Economics at South Dakota State University. In this role, she teaches courses in financial counseling and planning and conducts research on a variety of financial counseling and planning-related topics, including financial abuse within families. Since joining AFCPE in 2016, she has been involved in task forces, assumed editorial roles, and served as a reviewer for awards and grants. Regarding task force involvement, she was a member of the Student Task Force from 2019-2021 and chaired the Student Task Force from 2021-2023. She has been a member of the Newsletter Task Force since 2023. Her editorial roles include serving as the AFCPE Symposium Proceedings Editor since 2020 and serving on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Financial Counseling and Planning. She served as a reviewer for the Mary Ellen Edmonson Educator of the Year Award in 2020 and 2024 and for the Mary O’Neill Mini-Grant in 2016 and 2024.
