AFC® Certification Reinstatement
How AFC Reinstatement Works
To protect the integrity of the AFC, renewal is required each year. If fees or CEU requirements go unmet, your credential will be revoked. Reinstatement is possible within five years. Here are the steps to follow:

Submit an reinstatement request
Complete the reinstatement form with your contact details
Step 2
Pay fees and receive approval
Pay the $200 reinstatement fee plus any outstanding balance
Step 3
Complete requirements
Report required CEUs or pass the
current AFC exam
Step 4
Credential reinstated
Receive email confirmation once all requirements are met
Once you receive AFCPE approval, all reinstatement requirements must be completed within 90 days. Each reinstatement application is valid for 90 days only.
Timeline of Reinstatement Requirements
Your path to reinstatement depends on how long it has been since your certification expired. Review the options below to understand what applies to you.
Extension (Under 180 Days)
Reinstatement (6 months to 3 years)
Reinstatement (3 years to 5 years)
Re-enrollment (Over 5 years)
Reinstatement is not available after five years. You must re-enroll in the full AFC certification program from the beginning.

AFC mark may not be used until confirmation is received.
Individuals with a lapsed or revoked credential are not certified and are prohibited from using the AFC mark until the entire reinstatement process is complete.
