I was recently asked the question, what makes AFCPE stand out? And the response was easy.

Our integrated and supportive community.

AFCPE is a place of belonging.

Our organization is unlike any other in the personal finance space — we bring together financial professionals across the continuum — financial counselors, coaches, planners, therapists, educators, and researchers. You may serve different demographics or support clients at different points in their financial journey, but ultimately, you share a similar mission and vision for the field.

The AFC® certification, provides professionals with the knowledge, experience, credibility, and confidence to meet individuals and families where they are, help them build a strong financial foundation, realize their goals, and achieve lasting financial well-being.

And, if you ask an AFC what they love about their certification, you’ll often hear the word community.

Building community is at the heart of the work we do – with our clients, with colleagues, within our organization, and far beyond.

Read on to see ways you can build or expand your community with AFCPE.

Tune into Real Money, Real Experts:

We pack a lot of content into 30 minutes – making it a quick, easy, and fun way to get to know others working in the personal finance space.

Who’s in our line-up for the spring?

You’ll hear from an AFC professional who teaches financial education through song; an Olympian who is also pursuing the AFC designation; and a financial planner and researcher who is studying the effects of financial planning on financial happiness.

Tune in and if you enjoy what you hear, leave us a rating and review so others can find our podcast community!

ExperienceAFCPE as part of the 2023 AFCPE Symposium

Thanks to the incredible leadership of the Symposium Task Force and AFCPE’s Education Team, we are making some important updates to our Invitation to Present process.  Stay tuned, our call for speakers will open in May and you’ll be able to submit a proposal through mid-June.

And of course, Save the Date on your calendar now. This year’s Symposium will be held after Thanksgiving, November 29 – December 1. Be sure to mark it on your calendar now.

Share your feedback:

Earlier this month, the Government Relations Task Force asked our community to share their opinion and insight into the most current personal finance issues that our clients and community members are facing. The link to participate is in your member dashboard under Resources: https://my.afcpe.org/membership

And stay tuned for two more opportunities to contribute you feedback in late spring and summer – through a Community Survey which will go out ahead of our strategic planning meeting and a Job Analysis survey which helps ensure that the AFC core competencies remain relevant to the work that you do.

Join an event or start a conversation!

From professional development webinars to virtual meet ups, there’s always something happening in the AFCPE Community. Check out our calendar for upcoming events!

Or start a conversation in our virtual discussion board, the Member Exchange, where you’ll find an open forum for AFCPE Members, or smaller Empowerment Communities.

If you’re an AFC candidate, there’s a virtual discussion board available to you as well. It’s a great way to make connections and support one another as you navigate your journey to becoming an AFC.

No matter where you begin, you’re always welcome here.
