The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is the preeminent civil rights legislation that specifically provides protection to people with disabilities. The proper goals of the ADA are to assure equality of opportunity, full participation, independent living, and economic self-sufficiency for people with disabilities. This session will highlight key components of the ADA such as an individual’s right in disclosing their disability and providing reasonable accommodations. This session will also include an interactive portion where attendees will be able to reflect and discuss specific ethical considerations in providing financial counseling to clients with disabilities.
