Helping Homeowners Avoid Foreclosure

Join Consumer Action on Tuesday, Feb. 6, for our virtual train-the-trainer “Helping Homeowners Avoid Foreclosure.” The webinar panel of speakers will include Andrea Bopp Stark, senior attorney with the National Consumer Law Center (NCLC) and Stacey Tutt, Homeowner Assistance Fund coordinator and senior staff attorney with the National Housing Law Project (NHLP).

This train-the-trainer will cover (1.5 hours):
– Foreclosure basics: Understanding mortgage delinquency and the foreclosure process
– Foreclosure prevention options that help homeowners keep their home, or exit homeownership, while minimizing negative consequences
– How HUD-certified housing counselors can help
– When consumers should seek help from an attorney and where to find free or low-cost legal assistance
