DESCRIPTION:Strengthening nutrition readiness is essential to supporting the overall well-being and resilience of military families. SUMMARY:FPA Connect: ABLE Accounts: The Swiss Army Knife Financial Tool for Clients with Disabilities
DESCRIPTION:ABLE accounts are tax-advantaged savings and investment accounts designed to enable individuals with disabilities to save and pay for disability-related expenses. \nCongressional legislation went into effect January 1st\, 2026\, that greatly expands eligibility for these accounts\, extending the limiting age of onset of qualifying symptoms from 26 to 46. It is estimated that approximately 6 million more Americans (including up to 1 million veterans) are now eligible to open ABLE accounts. \nABLE accounts are not the only financial tool available for clients with disabilities\, but they are one of the most versatile\, enabling account holders to build savings without losing means-tested government benefits such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid. Plus\, investment growth and withdrawals are tax-free if used for Qualified Disability Expenses (QDEs). \nCome learn how ABLE accounts can fit into financial advice\, counsel\, or planning for your clients with disabilities. \nPresenter: Judy LaValley \nJudy is a disabled veteran and military spouse who is currently pursuing AFC®️ certification through the AFCPE/FINRA Foundation Military Spouse Fellowship (2025 cohort). She is also a certified Financial Behavior Specialist (FBS®️). Judy is a former U.S. Air Force pilot\, jumpmaster\, and Master Parachutist with approximately 750 jumps. \nAdd this wording to description:  Friendly Reminder: The link and recording for this webinar are for your personal use as a registered attendee. SUMMARY:Understanding Economic Abuse & Conducting Safe Financial Assessments
