SUMMARY:Supporting Military Couples Through Employment and Financial Transitions
DESCRIPTION:Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves\, and other military transitions often disrupt spouse employment\, resulting in periods of unemployment\, underemployment\, and financial strain for military families. These challenges are not isolated—they ripple outward\, affecting overall health and well-being – from stress and sleep to energy and connection- alongside family readiness\, finances\, and relationship dynamics. \nThis 90-minute interactive webinar takes a holistic\, integrated approach to equip military family service providers with the tools to support military couples through these transitions. Using insights from the 2024 Active-Duty Spouse Survey and real-world case scenarios\, we’ll explore how employment barriers and financial stress intersect with relationship health—and how coordinated supports can make a measurable difference. Participants will leave with practical strategies\, workflows\, and referral pathways—connecting couples to resources such as SECO\, MyCAA\, Military OneSource\, and MilSpouse Money Mission—to promote stability\, resilience\, and readiness.

SUMMARY:Money Languages: How to Improve Financial Communication within Couples
DESCRIPTION:Couples can greatly benefit from financial counseling to work through complex financial issues\, whether they are preparing for the next step in their relationship or have been together for many years. The Five Money Languages was designed in parallel with Gary Chapman’s Five Love Languages to help couple clients better understand how to communicate with one another about the complex issue of money. Applying these money languages in your practice will assist financial counselors and coaches in facilitating effective\, empowering\, and enlightening money conversations with couple clients that might otherwise be too difficult to have—or too easy to avoid altogether. \nThe Five Money Languages will be presented in this session\, along with four additional relationship theories or modalities that may further deepen communication between partners and between partners and their financial counselor. \nPresenter: Joanne Danganan\, AFC®\, CFSW \nNote: You may have previously joined our webinars via Zoom. AFCPE® has transitioned to Microsoft Teams as our meeting platform. To download this\, please click here. If you are experiencing technical issues\, please contact Microsoft Team Technical Support at this link. \nOur staff may not be able to assist with issues immediately before a webinar is scheduled\, as we are moderating the event. \n  \nFree for AFCPE® members and $50 for non-members

SUMMARY:From Barriers to Belonging: Serving Neurodivergent Clients in Pro Bono Planning
DESCRIPTION:Neurodivergent individuals—including those with ADHD\, Autism\, AuDHD\, Dyslexia\, Dysgraphia\, and other cognitive differences—represent a meaningful and often underrecognized portion of clients seeking pro bono financial planning services. While their financial needs may range from simple to complex\, traditional financial planning models and communication styles can unintentionally create barriers that affect understanding\, engagement\, and follow-through.\nIn pro bono settings—where time is limited\, resources are constrained\, and clients may already be navigating high levels of stress—these barriers can be especially impactful. Without intentional adaptations\, even well-intentioned financial guidance may fail to translate into meaningful or sustained progress.\nIn this free\, CE-eligible webinar\, Dr. Christine Hargrove\, LMFT\, Certified Financial Therapist™\, and Otto Rivera\, EA\, CFP®\, will explore how neurodiversity influences financial behavior\, decision-making\, and client engagement in pro bono planning relationships. Participants will gain practical\, actionable strategies to adapt meeting structure\, communication\, and planning workflows—helping neurodivergent clients feel respected\, understood\, and empowered to take action. \nPresenters: Dr. Christine Hargrove\, LMFT\, Certified Financial Therapist™\, and Otto Rivera\, EA\, CFP®\,
