DESCRIPTION:As we navigate new social distancing rules amidst the COVID-19 pandemic\, nearly everyone is having to adjust. Knowing how to navigate virtual services is becoming an essential skillset of our profession. While many of you have been virtually counseling or coaching for years\, others have had to quickly learn and adapt in order to create stability during a time of uncertainty. \nOn Tuesday\, June 2\, join fellow AFCPE Members for a virtual meet up. This more informal virtual get together will offer you the opportunity to engage with one another and to share: what’s working and what’s not. Come lean on other members to help navigate these times of uncertainty. Exchange ideas\, offer insights\, and hopefully leave learning something new! \nAsk us anything! The last 10 minutes of every monthly meet up is an opportunity to ask the Member Services team your questions and share your suggestions. This can be about the organization\, a field topic\, a knowledge gap you have\, etc. If we don’t have the answer\, we’ll work to find it. DESCRIPTION:Credit reporting and scoring are constantly evolving to adapt to changes in consumer protection laws\, consumer and economic patterns\, and the business needs of lending institutions. Recent developments in credit scoring and in the credit industry\, particularly the implementation of new consumer protections\, policy changes\, and the growing use of alternative and “consumer-permissioned” data\, may impact the credit reports and scores of consumers engaged in financial coaching and counseling. SUMMARY:Practitioner Training Day at CBA Credit Building Symposium
DESCRIPTION:June 17\, June 24\, July 1\, and July 8\n2 – 4 pm ET\nIn our 7th annual Credit Building Symposium\, Credit Builders Alliance will be exploring “Credit Building in a New Decade”\, highlighting the challenges\, innovations\, and solutions that must be addressed to ensure equitable access to credit and asset building for all. The virtual event will run over a 4-week schedule\, on Tuesdays\, Wednesday\, and Thursday afternoons from June 16th to July 9th. \nOur Practitioner Training’s will consist of four sessions (one each Wednesday)\, featuring an intensive exploration of credit scoring through a two-session FICO bootcamp\, a train-the-trainer on student loans\, and a deep dive into bankruptcy. Practitioner sessions are designed for financial coaches\, counselors\, and asset building practitioners who wish to deepen their knowledge and strengthen programs. Attendees of all four practitioner sessions are eligible for six AFCPE CEUs. \nRegistration is open through the end of the event\, on July 9th. All sessions will be available on-demand and as recordings. Registration for CBA members is $100 and $200 for non-members. \nMore about the event: \nThe CBA Symposium serves as an opportunity to learn\, share\, and connect with peers involved in asset building work across the nation. It also serves as a dialogue between nonprofit organizations involved in credit building and those corporate entities whose business practices include credit reporting\, credit scoring\, and/or credit granting. The Symposium strives to broker robust discussion between these two connected industries to continue to bridge gaps in understanding and strengthening bonds in the credit reporting arena.
