Dr. Mays is the Core Compliance Expert for Personal & Work Life Programs at the Airman & Family Readiness Center at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida. She is a Community Readiness Consultant who provides services to actively serving retire, guard and reserve military members, federal civilian employees, and their families. Dora has also been the Core Compliance Expert for Personal Financial Management Programs and as such became an Accredited Financial Counselor through AFCPE in 1998. Since her membership and accreditation, she has volunteered to review and score applications for the Military Spouse Fellowship Program, conducted surveys and provided feedback on trends and special circumstances facing military members and their families to support legislation and change. She has also been a Military Pre-Conference presenter during the Annual AFCPE Conference and has coordinated/collaborated with multiple agencies, written and published articles, and developed programs to increase awareness and financial readiness.
Dora holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Human Services, a Master of Science in Educational Leadership, and a Bachelor of Behavioral Science in Criminal Justice. She possesses several certifications related to personal finance, crisis and trauma, marriage and family, and is a Certified Florida Supreme Court Family Mediator. As a military spouse, she has dedicated her life and skills to fulltime employment with the Department of Defense serving military families. Additionally, she is the founder and CEO of AMaysing Services, Inc. and shares with her retired Air Force spouse, the mission of providing a full spectrum of counseling and self-help services. Among her distinctions and awards is her most recent recognition as the 2010 Airman and Family Services Flight Specialist of the Year presented in 2011.
