W.G. “Bud” Schneeweis

Bud Schneeweis served as the Associate Director of the Military Financial Readiness Project for FINRA Foundation from January 2013 until August 2018. While at FINRA Foundation, he worked extensively with AFCPE® as sponsor of the Military Spouse Fellows program and other ventures. In addition to the military financial readiness project, Bud counseled investors and investment advisors about issues they experienced within the financial community. He still enjoys meeting members of the federal, military and counselor communities, and discussing benefits and financial issues with them.

Bud spent a career in the U. S. Coast Guard, retiring as Captain. He is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and holds advanced degrees in Human Resources Management from Pepperdine University, and in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island. He completed his Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) studies at Georgetown University, and holds Certified Financial Planner™ and Accredited Financial Counselor® (AFC®) certifications.

Following military retirement, Bud served on the staff of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), directing its Benefits Information and Financial Education Department for over ten years. While at MOAA, he helped establish its Military Financial Education, and Military Spouse Programs. He has previously served as a director on the Boards of the Navy Mutual Aid Association, Coast Guard Mutual Assistance, and the USCG Commandant’s National Retiree Council, and as Co-Chair of the Coast Guard National Capital Area Retiree Council.

He resides in Charleston, SC and Falls Church, VA.
